Start Your Engines...

Pi Beta Phi and First Book have partnered to place brand new books into the hands of children in need nationwide through a series of local First Book Speed Reads -- playful fund-raising events that challenge participants to read as many words as they can out loud in just 15 seconds.

February is our club's Literacy Month. In addition to implementing the Champions Are Readers Program, Read Across America, and our Fraternity Day of Service at Caldwell Elementary, we will hold our very first Speed Read Event at our next club meeting - the Diamonds and Denim Fundraising Event (formally known as Make it, Bake it, Fake it). This means you have 21 days to decide how you will support this great cause.

Help us reach children by donating in support of our alumnae club. Just click the link and select Join our Team, Donate to a Club, or select a Team Member to sponsor. What's the difference?
  • Join Our Team - Anyone raising at least $15 will be invited to be part of our speed read event on February 22 at our Diamonds and Denim Fundraising event. The fastest reader will win a special gift basket and $100 will be donated to Speed Read in your name from the club.

  • Donate to Our Club - Select Donate Now and the funds will be donated in the name of McKinney Area, TX as a general donation.
  • Sponsor a Team Member (and yes you can sponsor yourself) - Select a team member from the list and sponsor them. If you want to sponsor yourself you must first join the team.

You can also ask your friends and family to sponsor you by select the Spread the Word Link. All donations are tax deductible and came be made online via Credit Card, Debit Card, Online Check or Paypal.

Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women has partnered with First Book to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books. Click here for more information about First Book. We look forward to crowning our fastest reader and helping a great cause.
